May Tea Party

The women at my church put together a tea party this May and I was asked to provide a cake. I decided the best decoration for a cake in May would be flowers. It has been a cool May here in Chicago so I thought bright yellow daffodiles would brighten the evening!

December is always a wonderful and crazy month!  We start off the month with our son's birthday - still cannot believe my baby turned 5!  He wanted a Spiderman cake this year and he was so excited to see how it turned out and we all enjoyed it!

Birthdays!

We have been very busy doing house repairs in the building we bought in Illinois.  It is a 1929 two flat building that we LOVE but there is a little work that needs to be done so our lives have revolved around those projects.  But in the last few months, our oldest turned 11 and a dear friend of mine had a birthday that I was able to make a fun cake for her so I wanted to share the cakes I made.

My friend's favorite color is blue so I liked the two shades of teal for a simple fun cake to celebrate her special day.

Regan loves red velvet cakes with cream cheese frosting and wanted something simple so I put a ribbon around the cake to dress it up, she loved it.

Birthdays!!

We get to enjoy three birthdays in our family in December - it is quite a busy month for us :)! Our son turned 4 and one of our daughters turned 7.  My husband also celebrated a birthday - we won't mention his age :) but we were a little done with cake so we had banana splits for a change in birthday desserts!

Our daughter wanted a flower so we went for three daisy flowers that she loved.

Christmas Presents

It is never too early for Christmas!  I attended a Christmas craft exchange but I am not a very crafty person so I made cakes instead.  I had to bring nine cakes so I made three different designs.  Since it was a Christmas party I thought some gifts would be appropriate :).  I loved the real ribbon and bows and everyone loved the personalized gift tags.

Harry Potter Party!

My daughter, Olivia turned 9 the end of September and she was so excited to have a Harry Potter party!  She dressed up as Hermione, we also had Prof McGonogall and Luna Lovegood and of course Harry.  We had fun making snitches and candy filled quills but she was super excited about her cake and it was fun making it for her :).

The spider, ink well and wand were fun touches!

Rainbows

We have been blessed to have lots of family and friends come visit us this summer in our new home!  My sister-in-law and her sweet family are visiting now and their cute little soon-to-be 7 year old daughter, Lillian is going to have a birthday in the next few days while traveling.  So I thought it would be fun to give her a cute cake during their stay :).  We are headed to Lake Michigan so she said she wanted something with the beach, here is the cake I thought would suit a fun little 7 year old girl!
